Alex:
I created this blog after being a big fan of my countries music. Though I live in Montréal, most of the music that has inspired me first is from Ontario. The name of the blog comes from lyrics of a Shoulder song. The goal of this blog is to bring back these bands to minds that have forgotten them and to bring awareness of the rest of them to people who would have otherwise never heard of them.
I also run the Abridged Pause Recordings. Not the same type of music, but great nevertheless.
You may contact me at alex(at)abridgedpause.com
Or find me on Last.fm: HDS7

Just joined up with Alex on this! I’m hoping to bring more bands from the 80′s and from more remote scenes on here. I’m originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia and pretty much grew up in that scene starting in 1986…putting on shows and playing in many bands. I’m now living in London, Ontario.

Just stumbled upon this blog, some great info. I’m searching for the Dead Season unreleased album. I had a cassette recording of it years ago and would like to hear it again.

Brilliant site dude. I grew up in Edmonton, but I used to spend my summers in Montreal where I was born, and parsing your site really brought me back to those days. The best part, you’ve managed to accumulate a shit-ton of music, some of which I had and have since lost, but more importantly I’ve been introduced to a lot of great stuff I missed out on completely. Cheers, mate.

Hey I like your blog but did you ever have the idea of featuring some newer bands? Recently I’ve been finding a wealth of Ontarian metalcore namely Counterparts (who are crazy) and Structures.

Greetings, I’ve been running (V)ictoria (D)emo (R)estoration (P)rojekt for over 12 years now, collecting bands that released music in Victoria, BC. Nice to see someone else is doing something similar. Check us out on http://www.myspace.com/VDRP (my list is up there, I think I have close to 30 gigs of local music, cept there’s a ton of demos/live recordings I still don’t have), I’m also on Soulseek under the VDRP label. Have a good day!

Hi Alex — I just emailed this to you, but figured I’d post it here too: “Just came across your 2 Line Filler write-up. I am listening to Listener at work today and decided to Google the band to see what I could find, expecting to find nothing. Instead, I found your great blog post. I loved the band when I first discovered them while running a record mailorder(Inbred Records) in Orlando, Florida back in the early-mid 90s — we sold their stuff. Anyway, it’s still an amazing album and I really enjoyed reading your post, comments and history about them.” – Craig
