The Wolfnote doesn’t seem like it much fits in with the bands on this blog, but it totally does! These guys are my first Alberta band on here. Great post-hardcore. These guys were pretty intense.
After some home burnt compilation demos they self released “Dancing to a Rhythm”, their first ep. They would also self release their next two eps, “Check the Lungs for Water” and “SI! SI! SI! SI!”. The later would be the first with their new vocalist Travis Sargent. After selling out the initial pressing on tour, Farway Records re-issued it in digipak. They were then signed to BlackBox Recordings, and would release their two albums on the label. “This is the Getdown” and “Sacred Bodies”.

I happen to like this band very much, though I haven’t met many people that liked Grade and New Day Rising who also liked this all-star band. This is also the final band that Chris Gray has participated before moving to the western states and becoming a MMA fighter (I always wonder if he’ll ever fight Rich Thurston from Culture, who’s also an MMA fighter now). This band managed to release two full lengths on Victory Records, both which are really good. They had a few singles and music videos that played on MuchMusic quite a bit back then.

Another Chris Gray band. This one was from about 2000 to 2002. I don’t know much about this short lived band, but this album is all they released. It was put out on Winter Recordings (not the Canadian one oddly enough). It’s very different and in a form its post-hardcore but heavier than most, touches of metalcore are in there. The members eventually joined up with Kyle Bishop of Grade and became The Black Maria.
